Classic eyelash extensions will typically last 4-6 weeks but these will gradually grow out with your own natural lashes. Week by week your natural lashes will shed, meaning the extensions will come off with them. Although your eyelash extensions can last up to 6 weeks, by this point you would have very few lash extensions left if you want to keep them looking good then regular infils are advised, this will help your lashes last much longer. Top-up appointments are best to be booked when you are at your initial appointment. This will ensure you have it in the diary otherwise you may forget and if you miss an in-fill appointment, the chances are you will need a new set at your next appointment. We all love to have our eyelash extensions on right? It makes us feel more awake and generally look better. But, we must keep in mind that, eyelash extensions, if overused may damage our natural lashes. This is why I would ALWAYS recommend my own clients take a break every few months. Typically it would be around the 12 -16 week mark. So breaking it down you would have your first initial set on, then depending on the growth of your own lashes, roughly 4 to 6 in-fill appointments after this before having them professionally removed.

Having a fresh set of lashes whether it be classic, volume or hybrid is very time consuming, but just think if this time as a lash nap. Relax, unwind and you will probably drift off. Lets talk about how the eyelash extension is actually applied to the natural lash. With all techniques, under eye gel pads will be placed onto the skin underneath the eye. These sit on top of the lower lashes – this is to protect them from coming into contact with glue. Sometimes, a small amount of medical tape can be used to help keep those little lashes out the way.

So, if you are planning on having a set of semi-permanent eyelashes applied, make sure you set aside plenty of time as this is not and should not be a quick fix treatment. Typically, a full set of semi-permanent eyelash extensions will take up to 2 hours to apply. These must be applied by a fully qualified eyelash technician or beauty therapist. This is a very time consuming treatment so be prepared to be lying down for a minimum of 90 minutes. It is completely normal to be feeling a bit anxious about your appointment if it is your first time as you probably won’t know what to expect but rest assured it is a very relaxing treatment, in fact, most of my own clients end up having a little nap during the treatment. We all love a lash nap! So back to applying the extensions. It really depends on the number of natural eyelashes there is to cover, as to how long it will take. With a set of eyelash extensions, the aim is to cover at least 90% of the natural lashes. For someone with really healthy and full natural lashes, the application time could be around 2 hours. Every single eyelash needs to be isolated and one extension will be attached. Whereas someone with not so good natural lashes and quite sparse may only be getting treated for around 1 hour to 1 and a half hours.

Yes, you can wear make-up whilst wearing semi-permanent eyelash extensions but please be careful when removing the make-up. I have some tips on how to keep your eyelashes looking lush, even after a full face of make-up. Once you have your eyelash extensions on, you may be pleasantly surprised with the fact, you may feel comfortable missing a day of putting all your makeup on! If you feel you still need to wear mascara (which will be unlikely as your eyelash extensions are normally black in colour and pre-curled) then keep in mind, you must source a mascara that is compatible. If you just go ahead and put any mascara on, this will ruin your lashes by breaking down the adhesive bond. Do your homework and find a water based mascara that is suitable with use of eyelash extensions! Avoid oily make-up removers – the oil will always win over the adhesive, leaving you with eyelashes shedding all over the place! Use soft light movements when removing any make-up. Avoid rubbing the eye area as this can cause irritation – leading to sensitivity around the eyes. Follow these simple tips to keep your eyelash extensions looking and feeling their best when wearing make-up.

Semi-permanent eyelashes can be removed safely with a special product, designed specifically for these eyelashes and adhesive. The best advice I can give, is, don’t try and remove your eyelash extensions at home. There is a high risk that you will do permanent damage to your own natural eyelashes. Call the salon where you had your eyelash extensions applied and I’m sure they will be more than happy to assist. The treatment would typically be around 30 minutes long, but this will save you from pulling your own eyelashes out. At the appointment, your eyes should always be closed, as we do not want to risk any of the special adhesive remover coming into contact with the eye. The remover is applied directly onto the eyelashes and worked through with a disposable mascara wand or micro brushes. Once the remover starts to work, the eyelash extensions will start to brush out and slide off the natural eyelash. This should be a pain free procedure and should not at any time feel uncomfortable. If you are experiencing any discomfort then make your lash tech or beauty therapist aware of this immediately. When all the eyelash extensions are removed, I personally would always cleanse the eye area. At this time it may be a good idea to have your eyelashes tinted. This will help you to get used to having no eyelashes on again as it will enhance and define what natural lashes you have. If my clients are having a removal due to them having a break, I would normally advise them to have a minimum of 7-10 day break (depending how long the previous eyelash extensions have been on). After the break they can then book back in for a fresh set of eyelash extensions or perhaps an alternative treatment.

Semi-permanent eyelash extensions must ALWAYS BE APPLIED BY A CERTIFIED LASH TECH OR BEAUTY THERAPIST. This is a very tricky treatment and if not done professionally it may cause damage to your own natural eyelashes. Excessive touching and overuse of eyelash extensions may also cause lasting damage to the natural eyelashes. If semi-permanent eyelash extensions are applied and removed professionally and are taken care of, following the proper aftercare and homecare advice then there should be no damage to the natural eyelash and can be worn for some time. Be sure to take good care of your eyelash extensions to prolong the life of them and keep them looking their best. Semi-permanent eye lash extensions are to make natural eyelashes look longer, thicker and fuller. They enhance your natural eyelashes and make all the difference in your eye area from au natural to super glam depending on how you wish to look.

-Avoid steam rooms , saunas, and sun beds for at least 48 hours. -don’t pick. -brush eyelashes every morning and night. -try to sleep on back to avoid messing the lashes up. -do not rub the extensions too much when cleaning them.

Almond- short lashes to the inner eye, medium in the middle then long towards the outer lashes (cat eye) Deep set- all lashes same length all the way across. Round- short lashes to be used with long ones in the middle then coming back to short at the end.

6-8mm used for inner eye or bottom lashes 9-15mm used across rest of eye following what best suits your customer’s eye shape or lash map that has been chosen.

The pre fanned volume lashes are fans that have been pre made where are genuine Russian lashes you have to hade make the fans, this can take longer but can give a much more choppy fluffy look.
