Let’s talk vitamin supplements…
Why do we take vitamin supplements?
Vitamins and multi vitamins are prepared and intended to support the daily dosage of nutritional elements to help maintain, grow, look after and regulate the human body.
We can take them to bridge the gap if we do not consume enough in our daily diets, if we are deficient or some of us take them just for general peace of mind and satisfaction that we are doing what we can to help protect our body.
We can generally get enough vitamins through our daily diet, depending what that diet may be, however a good majority of the population like to take supplements as a boost for added nutrition and peace of mind.
Whilst its not possible to overdose on vitamins there can be side effects if you do consume more than the recommended daily allowance so it is important to make sure you understand what your body needs and follow the recommended guidelines.
Here at BOSS Beauty and aesthetics we are trained in Vitamin B12, Vitamin C and Biotin injections, each having there own amazing benefits, speak to one of our health care professionals to find out more.
What methods can we take vitamin supplements?
We can take vitamins through diet, orally via tablet form, orally via vitamin drinks, intramuscular and intravenously. Diet is the most natural form of taking vitamins and we do this anyway but when we take vitamin supplements we choose to take them orally or via injection.
When you take vitamins in tablet form they need to go through the digestive system before they reach your blood stream so you only end up absorbing around 30-40% compared to drink form which absorbs 90-95%. It is important to look at the quality and dosage of the ingredients when choosing your vitamin supplement to ensure you are choosing a supplement that is beneficial. This method enables you to take them every day. For a high quality vitamin drink that we highly recommend as it is clinically trialled and proven to get results, visit our shop. You can purchase this via us and we can get it delivered straight to your home.
We also offer intramuscular method however these are recommended to be taken on a monthly basis due to the purity and method of administration. We also require our customers to see our prescriber prior to having these injections as we only believe in offering the best product on the market following the best advice for you as an individual.
What we mean by this is some client’s may be deficient and if this is the case then we would get the best advice on a loading dosage for you on refer you to your GP so that they can monitor your blood levels to ensure you get the correct dosage.
This method has a 95% absorption rate as well due to the intramuscular method of administration so you will reap the benefits instead of it getting lost in the digestion process.
Which is the most beneficial method?
Intramuscular (IM) injections deposit medications into the muscle fascia, which has a rich blood supply, allowing medications to be absorbed faster through muscle fibres than they are through the subcutaneous route. The IM site is used for medications that require a quick absorption rate but also a reasonably prolonged action. Due to their rich blood supply, IM injection sites can absorb larger volumes of solution. In addition, muscle tissue is less sensitive than subcutaneous tissue to irritating solutions and concentrated and viscous medications.
Intramuscular injections must be done carefully to avoid complications. Complications with IM include muscle atrophy, injury to bone, cellulitis, sterile abscesses, pain, and nerve. With IMs, there is an increased risk of injecting the medication directly into the patient’s bloodstream. In addition, any factors that impair blood flow to the local tissue will affect the rate and extent of drug absorption.
